"Reading"

Right now, both Kiera and Liam are very into "reading" to each other and to us.  This usually involves either (1) reciting a story from memory (which they're very good at) or (2) making up a new story based on the pictures in the book (this is more Kiera's style).  Here is our bedtime read from the other night (excuse the lack of pajama bottoms!)

Preschool!

Kiera and Liam started preschool this week. Since they're already at the Y for daycare, it was just a move upstairs to the Preschool One classroom, but it's a big step! Can't believe they're almost three!

They growed up

Today on the way home from daycare:

Me: Liam, why is your face a mess? What did you have for snack today?

Liam: a cupcake

Me: was it someone's birthday? 

Kiera: It was Bailey and Jude's birthday. (Twins in the other toddler classroom).

Me: oh, are they two now?

Liam: Yeah. They growed up,

I guess when you're almost three, those little kids turning two are so much younger... so glad they're growing up!

Once again I have been slacking. I will catch up on summer posts soon. Here is a video of Liam golfing to keep you all entertained for the time being. I'm saving this for when he makes it big!

 

My little diva

Kiera got her first "pedicure" today from her Babci. She is SO excited about her pink toes and can't wait to show her teachers at school tomorrow! Thanks Babci! 

What makes a princess different?

I thought that I was semi-prepared for potty training. I knew that it wasn't going to be easy. I bought Kiera Disney branded pull-ups, multiple different potty seats, books about going to the potty, and even a potty watch that sings when it's time to go...but I didn't apparently fully prepare myself for the comical conversations that would start to take place.

Tonight Kiera was sitting on her potty seat while I was filling the tub for baths and she was a little fidgety. I said something along the lines of "sit down Princess," using one of many nicknames i have for her, but not really thinking anything of it.  Then the conversation began to get interesting.

Kiera: Mommy, princesses don't go potty!

Me: Kiera, everyone goes potty, even princesses.

Kiera: But, Cinderella and Sophia don't go potty mommy.

Me: Yes, honey, Cinderella and Sophia go to the potty.

Kiera: No they don't! (starting to get a little frustrated with me now)

Me: why don't they go potty honey?

Kiera: um, they just don't have bums.

Well, there you have it. Why you will never see a princess using the ladies room. Apparently they don't have bums. Perfectly reasonable explanation.

Everyone loves a party

This morning Kiera told her Daddy that it was Pinky's birthday. In case you're out of the loop, Pinky is her imaginary pet dragon. So, in a moment of weakness at the grocery store today, I bought cupcake mix and we made a birthday batch of them up for the dragon. After dinner, we frosted them and sang Happy Birthday to Pinky, complete with a candle.
