It's hard to believe, but Kiera and Liam are already more than a week old! We are simply amazed every day at them, and despite the lack of sleep, we're enjoying every moment of being parents to these two amazing children. They were definitely born with their own personalities, and we can't wait to see how they develop over time.
A little more about their birth story...
At our last OB appointment on Thursday, October 7th, Kiera was still measuring quite a bit smaller than her brother, and after discussions with Dr. Economy, we all felt that it was best to bring her into the world, where she could be fed to her heart's content and catch up on growth. So our originally planned birth date of 10/15 was moved up a week to the next day. After several unexpected delays (none of which had anything to do with us - we were ready to go!) on Friday, the twins were born at 1:19 pm (Kiera) and 1:21 pm (Liam). We were thrilled that they both were healthy and required no time in the NICU, despite their low birth weights. We all were admitted and moved up to the 8th floor post-partum floor, where we spent the next 3 1/2 days. We came home as a family on Tuesday, October 12th, three days before they were originally planned to even be born, and only twenty three days before their actual due date - not bad for twins!
