ONE!

Happy Birthday Kiera and Liam! The twins officially turned a year old on Saturday, October 8th. We celebrated with a photo shoot by the fabulous Laura Wagner, followed by a party for our family and friends on Sunday. Here are a couple of the official shots from Saturday.

It's absolutely amazing how much they have changed in a year. 

While Kiera is still our little peanut, she has a HUGE personality.  She knows exactly what she wants and isn't happy when she doesn't get it.  She runs, not walks, everywhere, which is pretty amusing, given her size.  She doesn't look old enough to be walking, or climbing into boxes, or dragging things twice her size across the room, but she does it.  Her vocabulary is limited, and "mama" pretty much means anything that she wants to point at (except for me!).  However, she knows what all of her toys are, and she points at most of them when you ask her what they are.  Elmo and her monkey (Curious George) are the current favorites, along with her pillow pet duck.  She's starting to enjoy more table food, and has been known to put away mass quantities of cheese and oranges (yes, sometimes at the same time).   Happy Birthday to the "big" sister!

Liam is fondly known as the "big little brother", and he certainly lives up to his name.  I'm guessing that he outweighs his sister by about 6 pounds (we'll find out this week at their doctors' appointments).  His size is a result of his eating pretty much anything we put in front of him, with the exception of anything resembling a vegetable.  He is known for picking the meat and pasta out of soups and pushing the veggies to the side of his tray.  I did manage to get him to eat a few white beans mixed in with the pasta this week - I think the color threw him off.  His favorite by far are Papa's meatballs!  Liam is a little chatterbox and his favorite words right now are "up" and "da" (down).  He loves playing with the beach balls and his trucks, or with whatever Kiera has in her hands.  Liam's a little less agile than Kiera, but he is definitely a good walker (unless something is in his way - he hasn't quite gotten that he has to look down to see if there are things on the floor in front of him!).  Happy Birthday Big Mac!
